The Northwest of Vietnam’s belongings are really beautiful, and Lao Than is not an expectation. That poetic name is not strange for those of you who are passionate about trekking. Located at 2860m in height, Lao Than Summit is also well known as the top of Y Ty, at Bat Xat Ward, Lao Cai Province. It has become one of the ideal destinations as a natural gift for trekking lovers. Lao Than is not only a hard peak to conquer, but also a suitable peak for those trekking beginners, and cloud hunters.

An itinerary to explore Lao Than Summit of Umove Adventure not only brings you to the cloudy eden on the mountain but also company with you to discover the meaningful and attractive destinations in Y Ty such as Lung Po Flag Pole, Choan Then Park, and Ha Nhi Village, etc.

Itinerary
The 1st night: Ha Noi - Lao Cai (The compound tour departs every Friday)

18:00: Attend at departing point, and get on a bus to Lao Cai. After around 45 to 50 minutes of departure, the bus will pick up those people registered at the Noi Bai Airport.

23:00: Arival in Lao Cai, check in homestay. We will sleep the first night in Lao Cai

* Dinner is excluded from the program

The bus may also directly reach Choản Thèn for overnight homestay, depending on the time of the year. Our travel consultant will inform guests in advance if staying overnight at Choản Thèn.

Day 1: Lao Cai - A Mu Sung - Lung Po Flag Pole - Y Ty - A shack night sleep on the mountain

05:30: Wake up, personal hygiene, pack stuff, and have breakfast at a local restaurant.

06:30: A bus picks the group up to travel to A Mu Sung where we visit Lung Po Flag Pole 1 of 3 important national boulder landmarks at the Nothern boundary, and then the Mark 92 which is the landmark of the Hong River runs through our country. On the way, we will contemplate the significance and spaciousness of the mountains in the bouldery area. Moving to Y Ty.

11:30: At Y Ty, we visit the Choan Then where have “ Cay Song Song” - twin trees, and discover the unique features in the daily life of the Ha Nhi People.

12:00: Have lunch at Y Ty, and get ready to conquer the Lao Than Summit trip.

13:00: Start to hiking. After about 4 hours of trekking, we get to a Shack, at the same time, the sun is going down. Store our stuff, and personal hygiene, and take a rest after the first day of the trip. Meanwhile waiting for dinner, we can help the Porter team to cook or take a walk around the Shack to see the sunset.

18:30: Dinner, talk to each other, and share the stories with other members of the group. Afterward, enjoy the peaceful space of the jungle. Night sleeping at Wooden Shack with warmth, a blanket, and an installation mattress.

Day 2: A Shack night sleep - Lao Than Peak 2965m - Y Ty- Ha Noi

04:30: Get up early to have breakfast along with enjoying coffee, and hot ginger tea.

05:30: Start to hike to the last section to reach Lao Than Peak. 

06:00: Reach Lao Than Peak, take photos, rest, and enjoy the scenery on the top.

08:30: Back to the Shack to rest, pack our personal stuff, and trek back to the starting point.

12:00: Lunch at Y Ty before getting on the bus back to Ha Noi.

19:30: At Ha Noi, and finish the program.

Difficulty of the activity

Difficulty Level (6/10): Most people can participate in the time, children from 6 years old and above also can join with parents. It will be easier and more comfortable for you to experience outdoor activities if you have good preparation for physical training before the trip. The duration of each trip is 2 days generally. With those trekking tours at this level, it might take 2 – 3 hours/day to do the trek with the relatively easy terrain. At the same level, the kayaking and SUP tours, 2 – 3 hours/ days paddling with the large water surface, and plenty of times to take photos and rest as well.

Suggested physical training: Practice running or kayaking/SUP 1 - 2 weeks in advance. Run twice a week, each session 3 - 5km every night. Or paddling from 2- 3 times, each time is 5 km.

  1. Trekking Notes: 
  • This is a trek with various terrains and not too challenging in the 10 highest peaks in Viet Nam. Lao Than is well known as a suitable peak for trekking beginners.
  • Umove Adventure encourages you to bring a 10L backpack with under 2kg weight of necessary stuff during trekking such as a wallet, phone, and drinking water. Personal items like clothes and drinking water for every day, food for mountain meals, etc. Porter will carry them.
  1. Sleep on the mountain
  • We will sleep at a wooden shack on the mountain on the second night. An inflatable mattress, an insulated mat, and a sleeping bag or a blanket will be provided for sleeping.
  1. Food & Drinks:
  • Meals at the mountain are hot and served by the Porter team. Breakfast is fried rice, instant noodles, or crepe cake. Lunch is an available food which is prepared in advance.
  • Drinking water will be taken from the stream by the Porter team and then boiled to sanitize. The participants should bring a water bottle to refill water every day.
  • At the sleeping spot after each meal, hot tea and coffee are served.
  1. Protecting the environment together 
  • Umove Adventure supports and practices Leave No Trace principles in each program and outdoor activities itself. We also encourage our customers and partners to apply to Leave No Trace principles when traveling in the outdoor environment. See details about the Leave No Trace session here
  • In order to limit the use of single-use plastic bottles, Umove Adventure encourages each of us to prepare for ourselves a bottle of water with a 1L capacity for daily water refilling.
  • On the tour, tourists comply with the instructions and regulations on environmental protection at the destination.
  1.   Medical alert
  • If you have cardiovascular disease or bone and joint diseases (knees, ankles, shoulder joints, etc.), you should visit your doctor before deciding to join the trip.
  • A basic first-aid bag will be carried by tour guides. If you have health problems that require preventive medicine, please prepare for your own.
