Pu Ta Leng (Putaleng) Summit is the third highest mountain in Vietnam with an altitude of 3049m. This Summit belongs to the Hoang Lien Son mountain ranges in Ta Leng Commune, Tam Duong Ward, Lai Chau Province. Putaleng is impressed by the gorgeous Azalea which is well known as a Queen of Flowers in the North West Region. However, there is more than that in this Eden. Conquering Putaleng, you will experience crossing a River, traveling over the forest, and walking under the canes that are growing without prearrangement. Besides, you will engage in the foggy forest frame in Hoang Lien Son, or step on the unlimited length of Azalea ground.

Itinerary
The 1st night: Ha Noi - Sapa (compound tour departs every Friday night)

22:00: Attend at bus office. We will transport to Sapa by sleeping bus. After around 45 to 50 minutes of departure, the bus will pick up those people registered at the Noi Bai Airport.

*Dinner is excluded from the program

Day 1: Sapa - Tam Duong - Pho Village - A shack night sleep

05:00: At Sapa, we exercise to get familiar with the weather in the highland region. Move to the breakfast spot to eat and do the hygiene. 

07:15: Get on the bus go to Pho Village, Tam Duong, Lai Chau

08:45: At Pho Village, meet the Dao People who are the Porter team. Start the expedition to conquer the Tapuleng Summit.

11:00: Have lunch along the way. 

17:00: At the Shack which is at 2500m altitude, the meanwhile of the sunset. We will store our stuff and do personal hygiene. We can take a rest or support the Porter team to cook our dinner, take a walk, or enjoy the sunset at the Shack.

18:30: Dinner and talk to each other around the fire. If the weather is nice, we could contemplate stargazing in the peaceful space of the jungle. Night sleeping at Wooden Shack.

Day 2: A Shack Night Sleep - Putaleng Summit - A Shack Night Sleep

05:00: Get up early to have breakfast along with enjoying coffee, and hot ginger tea before hiking to the Peak.

07:00: Start to hike to the last section to reach Putaleng Peak. We will leave our stuff at a Shack, just carry essential ones to the Peak.

10:30: Reach Putaleng Peak, take photos, rest, and enjoy the scenery on the top. After lunchtime on the top, we will back to the Shack.

12:45: Back to the Shack to rest, pack our personal stuff move to the second Shack heading in Ta Leng's direction. The second Shack is located in the Black Cardamon Forest.

17:00: At a Shack, same as the previous day, we can take a rest or support the Porter team to cook our dinner, take a walk, or enjoy the sunset at the Shack.

18:30:  Dinner and talk to each other around the fire. Night sleep at a Wooden Shake.

Day 3: A Shack - Ta Leng - Sapa - Ha Noi

05:30: Get up early to have breakfast and welcome dawn.

06:45: Packing personal items, and trekking downhill for around 6 hours to get to the center of Ta Leng Commune.

12:45: Having light lunch, and taking a break before getting on the bus back to Sapa.

 

16:00: Come to Sapa, and go for an herbal shower. Immer ourselves in the warm water, and relax after the long expedition to conquer Putaleng.

19:00: Dinner at a local restaurant with special foods in Sa Pa. Cheer up with the Tao Meo Wine to congrats our successful trip.

23:00: Get on the sleeping bus to back to Ha Noi. Around 04:30 a.m. the next day at My Dinh bus station. Finish the program.

Difficulty of the activity

Difficulty Level (8/10): Good physical skills are a requirement, as well as experience in outdoor activities. This level is not for children. The duration of each trip is from 2  - 4 days with a basic of eating, and sleeping condition. Accommodation is camping. Trekking time might take 5 – 6 hours/day to do the trek with the difficult terrain, slopes, and high elevation. The kayaking and SUP tours might take from 6 – 7 hours/day of paddling.

Suggested physical training: Practice running or kayaking/SUP 2 weeks in advance. Run 2 - 3 times a week, each session 5km. Or paddling from 2- 3 times, each time is 5 - 7 km.

  1. Trekking Notes: 
  • This is a long day of trekking and one of the 10 peaks has the most challenging terrain in Viet Nam. If you have no experience in trekking or physical training, you should prepare well for exercise before the trip ( refer to the Suggestion about the physical training part).
  • Umove Adventure encourages you to bring a 10L backpack with under 2kg weight of necessary stuff during trekking such as a wallet, phone, and drinking water. Personal items like clothes and drinking water for every day, food for mountain meals, etc. Porter will carry them.
  1. Sleep on the mountain
  • We will sleep at a wooden shack in Putaleng for 2 nights. There is a washroom, and bathroom here. An inflatable mattress, or an insulated mat, and a sleeping bag or a blanket will be provided for sleeping.
  1. Food & Drinks:
  • Meals at the mountain are hot and served by the Porter team. Breakfast is fried rice, instant noodles, or crepe cake. Lunch is an available food which is prepared in advance.
  • Drinking water will be taken from the stream by the Porter team and then boiled to sanitize. The participants should bring a water bottle to refill water every day.
  • At the sleeping spot after each meal, hot tea and coffee are served.
  1.   Medical alert
  • If you have cardiovascular disease or bone and joint diseases (knees, ankles, shoulder joints, etc.), you should visit your doctor before deciding to join the trip. A basic first-aid bag will be carried by tour guides. If you have health problems that require preventive medicine, please prepare for your own.
