1. Fansipan (3,143 m) is the highest mountain in Vietnam, known as the "Roof of Indochina." It is located in the Hoang Lien National Park, approximately 10 km from the center of Sa Pa town in Lao Cai. The best time to climb Fansipan is from September to April when the weather is dry and not too cold. There are currently three road routes to the summit of Fansipan, with the Tram Ton route being the most popular, offering the shortest distance while still providing a diverse and convenient terrain. The climb takes 2 days and 1 night, with common resting points at 2,200 m around noon and 2,800 m in the evening.

2. Pusilung Peak (3,083 m) is located in Pa Ve Su, Muong Te District, Lai Chau Province, near the border with China. It is the second-highest mountain in Vietnam, following Fansipan. Climbing Pusilung takes 3 days and 2 nights, covering a total distance of over 60 km. This destination is a dream for experienced mountain trekkers due to its challenging and rugged terrain. To reach the summit, trekkers must cross about 11 small and large streams, pristine forests, bamboo forests, oak forests, and ancient golden rhododendron trees. Notably, you will also reach milestone 42, built in 2008, which is the second-highest border milestone in all of Vietnam (second only to milestone 79), located at an altitude of 2,866 m.

3. Putaleng Peak (3,049 m) is situated in Ta Leng, Tam Duong District, Lai Chau Province. The trek to Putaleng is long, featuring steep and rugged terrain, taking about 2 days and 1 night. It usually starts from Ban Pho in Ho Thau Commune and goes through the Ta Leng route, providing trekkers with a chance to admire the beauty of the mountainous forests and have different trekking experiences. The route to Putaleng passes through the gentle Thau Stream, and there are many sections with large rocks that form small, clear, and cool water reservoirs. The "tough challenge" of Putaleng is the three steep and almost vertical mountain peaks, with no flat sections. In many places, trekkers have to hang on to tree branches and crawl using all four limbs. The trail mostly goes under the forest canopy, providing shade and avoiding the hot sun.

4. Ky Quan San Peak (3,046 m), also known as Bach Moc Luong Tu, serves as a natural border dividing Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces. It was only opened for trekking in 2012. Travelers can choose to start their journey from either of these two provinces, but the most common route begins from Sang Ma Sao Commune in Bat Xat District, Lao Cai. Muoi Salt Mountain, part of the Ky Quan San Range, has the highest peak at over 3,000 m and is one of the most beautiful places to watch the clouds and sunrise in the northern mountains. Conquering Ky Quan San in May provides an opportunity to admire the terraced fields of the H'mong people during the rice transplanting season.

5. Khang Su Van Peak (3,012 m), also known as Phan Lien San or U Thai San, is located in Dao San, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province. The trek covers a total distance of about 20 km and has become a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts since it was first trekked in 2015. The journey to the summit of Khang Su Van also passes milestone 79, the highest border milestone on the entire Vietnamese border.

6. Ta Lien Son (2,996 m), also known as Co Trâu or Buffalo Horn, is the highest mountain in the area of Ta Leng, Tam Duong District, Lai Chau Province. The trek to conquer Ta Lien typically takes 2 days and 1 night. The forest in Ta Lien is still very pristine, with ancient trees covered in moss. The trek is not too difficult, and there are resting stations at an altitude of 2,400 m along the way, making it convenient for activities and resting. Trekkers should prepare light jackets, basic medical supplies, and enough water for the two-day trek. The best time to climb Ta Lien is in April-May when the rhododendron flowers bloom or in September-October when the forests change color.

7. Ta Chi Nhu (2,979 m), also known as Phu Song Sung among the Thai ethnic people or Chung Chua Nha among the H'mong, is located in the Pu Luong mountain range of the Hoang Lien Son. The "roof" of Yen Bai province is situated in Xa Ho, Tram Tau District, and was first trekked in 2013. The end of autumn sees the region covered in the red and purple blossoms of rhododendron flowers. Ta Chi Nhu is quite remote and serves as a natural barrier with China, making it an attractive destination for trekking enthusiasts from different regions.

8. Po Ma Lung Peak (2,967 m) in Ban Lang Commune, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau, gained attention in 2017. Despite ranking eighth in the top 10 highest mountains in Vietnam, the elevation that trekkers must overcome is substantial, with nearly 2,200 m from 800 m above sea level to nearly 3,000 m. The journey covers over 40 km of forested terrain over 3 days and 2 nights, including reaching the summit of Po Ma Lung and returning to Ban Lang.

9. Nhiu Co San (2,965 m) means "Buffalo Horn" in the language of the local Mong ethnic people. It is located in Sang Ma Sao Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai. The Nhiu Co San mountain range has two peaks that stretch towards the sky, resembling buffalo horns. In March and April, the entire Nhiu Co San range is covered in shades of red and purple rhododendron flowers, while at the end of December and the beginning of January, there is often snow at the summit. The trek to Nhiu Co San passes through the historic Pavi stone path built during the early 20th century during French colonial rule.

10. Chung Nha Vu Peak (2,918 m) is located in Nam Xe, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau. It serves as a natural border along the Vietnam-China border, near border markers 83, 84, and close to border marker 85. The journey from Hanoi typically involves traveling to Sa Pa and then to Y Ty, followed by a trip from Y Ty to Nam Xe. The trek to Chung Nha Vu mostly follows the stream, and the forests are nearly untouched, with towering trees covered in moss. The peak is quite far from human settlements and also serves as a natural barrier with China, attracting adventurers from all over the country.
