Ta Chi Nhu Summit is the 7th highest mountain in Vietnam with a 2979m height. It is located at the border of Tram Tau Ward, Yen Bai Province, and Muong La Ward, Son La Province. It is not only known as “the Cloudy Ocean” but also “ the Kingdom of Sunlight - Wind”, and more especially is the Chi Pau flower an outstanding feature because the purple color is fully covered in this mountain during the Autumn season. Ta Chi Nhu is a quite difficult trek on the constant slopes. However, Ta Chi Nhu still attracts people with its beauty itself.

Normally, Tram Tau is the starting as well as the ending point; by contrast, a special itinerary in Umove Adventure, Nam Nghiep (Ngoc Chien, Muong La, Son La) is the departing point, and Tram Tau (Yen Bai) is the exit point. It brings you an easier terrain for walking and a more nice-looking view, additionally is a various flora and fauna.

Itinerary
The 1st night: Ha Noi - Nam Nghiep (Compound tour departs every Friday)

18:30: Attend the pick-up point to get on the bus and go to Nam Nghiep, Ngoc Chien, Son La. Dinner is self-served before getting on the bus or along the way at the resting point.

01:30: At Ngoc Chien, room check-in and stay at a homestay of Thai People.

*Dinner is excluded from the program

Day 1: Ngoc Chien - Nam Nghiep - A Shack in 2600m

05:30: Get up early to do hygiene, eat breakfast, and pack stuff. After breakfast, we will take a motorcycle taxi to the starting point.

07:45: The group comes to the jungle side, preparing the stuff (for those using it at the shack, we can give it to porters), and warm up to get muscle ready for the trek.

08:00: Starting to conquer the first slopes.

11:00: Have lunch along the way. 12:00 We carry on the trek to get to the shack.

16:30: At the Shack, sleep a night in the middle of an ancient forest. We will store our stuff and do personal hygiene after the trek. We can take a rest or support the Porter team to cook our dinner, take a walk, or enjoy the sunset at the Shack.

18:30: Dinner and talk to each other around the fire. If the weather is nice, we could contemplate the peaceful space of the jungle. Night sleeping at Wooden Shack has a layer to keep warm.

Day 2: A Shack Night Sleep - Ta Chi Nhu Summit 2979m - Tram Tau - Ha Noi

04:00: Get up to have breakfast along with enjoying coffee, and hot ginger tea. After breakfast, we will start the trek to reach the peak and welcome the dawn.

04:45: Start the journey from the shack. We leave our stuff at the shack.

06:15: Reach Ta Chi Nhu Peak, take a rest, take photos, and contemplate the majestic sunrise scene at the peak.

07:30: Back to the Shack, Packing and trekking downhill head to Tram Tau direction.

11:00: Having picnic lunch on the way.

15:00: Come to Mo Chi, get on the bus to Tram Tau. Take a hot mineral bath, immerse, and relax in the water after the challenging trip.

18:00: Having dinner with the special local food.

19:00: Pack the stuff and get on the bus to go back to Ha Noi. Around 00:30 reach Ha Noi, and finish the program.

Difficulty of the activity

Difficulty Level (7/10): Good physical skills are a requirement, as well as experience in outdoor activities. This level is not for children. The duration of each trip is from 2  - 4 days with a basic of eating, and sleeping condition. Accommodation is camping. Trekking time might take 5 – 6 hours/day to do the trek with the difficult terrain, slopes, and high elevation. The kayaking and SUP tours might take from 6 – 7 hours/day of paddling.

  1. Trekking Notes: 
  • This is a challenging trek with a high elevation and the toughest in 10 Vietnam’s mountains. 
  • Umove Adventure encourages you to bring a 10L backpack with under 2kg weight of necessary stuff during trekking such as a wallet, phone, and drinking water. Personal items like clothes and drinking water for every day, food for mountain meals, etc. Porter will carry them.
  1. Sleep on the mountain
  • We will sleep in the wooden shack on the second day. There is a washroom, and bathroom here. An inflatable mattress, or an insulated mat, and a sleeping bag or a blanket will be provided for sleeping.
  1. Food & Drinks:
  • Meals at the mountain are hot and served by the Porter team. Breakfast is fried rice, instant noodles, or crepe cake. Lunch is an available food which is prepared in advance.
  • Drinking water will be taken from the stream by the Porter team and then boiled to sanitize. The participants should bring a water bottle to refill water every day.
  • At the sleeping spot after each meal, hot tea and coffee are served.
  1. Protecting the environment together

  • In order to limit the use of single-use plastic, Umove Adventure encourages each of us to prepare for ourselves a bottle of water with a 1L capacity for daily water refilling.
  • On the tour, tourists comply with the instructions and regulations on environmental protection at the destination.
  1.   Medical alert
  • If you have cardiovascular disease or bone and joint diseases (knees, ankles, shoulder joints, etc.), you should visit your doctor before deciding to join the trip.
  • A basic first-aid bag will be carried by tour guides. If you have health problems that require preventive medicine, please prepare for your own.
