Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi - Cuc Phuong - Trekking - Campsite in Bong

06:30 Picking up travelers at the pickup point and heading to Ninh Binh province. Please prepare your own breakfast to eat on the bus or at a rest stop along the way.

09:30 Arriving at Cuc Phuong National Park, meet up with the forest rangers and get instructions about the trek. Visit the Primate Rescue Center to learn about the research and rescue efforts of Cuc Phuong National Park toward primates in Vietnam.

11:30 Embark on the bus again and head to Bong. Upon arrival at Bong, you will have lunch at the restaurant. After lunch you will begin 3 hour trek through the ancient forest to reach the Giant Dang tree area. The rangers will accompany us to share knowledge about the forest's wildlife and plants, as well as survival techniques in the wild.

15:30 Finish the trek and going back to Bong. Setting up the tent and relaxing at the campsite, or being free to explore the short walking trails around Bong.

18:30 Having dinner at the local restaurant in Xom Bong.

19:30 The rest of the evening will be spent near the campfire until bedtime.

Day 2: Cuc Phuong NP - Ninh Binh Bear Sanctuary - Hanoi

07:00 Waking up and enjoying the sounds of birds. Having coffee or drinking hot tea along with Vietnamese breakfast at the restaurant in Bong.

08:00 Striking camp and visiting the Cave of Prehistoric Man, located on the route from Bong to the Park’s entrance. After exploring the cave, you will head to Four Paws Bear Rescue Center, located 10 km from Cuc Phuong National Park.

10:00 Arriving at the Ninh Binh Bear Rescue Center. This is an internationally certified environmental education site with professional infrastructure and operations. Rescue staff will guide the group through various areas of the center. The stories and experiences here will raise awareness about contributing to the protection of bears in Vietnam.

12:00 After the visit, you will head to a restaurant in Ninh Binh for lunch.

14:00 Returning to Hanoi. The tour will end upon arrival in Hanoi.

Difficulty of the activity

Experiencing Level (4/10): Most people can participate, and children around 6 years old and up, accompanied by parents, can also join. Light physical preparation will make outdoor activities on the tour easier and more comfortable. The tour typically lasts 2 days. For trekking tours at this level, the trekking time is around 2 to 3 hours per day on relatively easy terrain. Kayaking or SUP tours at this level involve paddling for 2 to 3 hours per day in areas with large water surface so the travelers have plenty of time to take pictures and have rest

4. Trekking Notes.

The trekking route is approximately 6 to 7 km long. We will be walking on fairly open trails with minimal uphill sections. 

The campsite at Xom Bong is a large, flat grassy area. Umove Adventure uses 3- or 4-person tents, which will be spacious for 2 people. Each tent is equipped with air mattresses and sleeping bags. There are restrooms and showers available at Bong.

5. Protecting the environment together

In order to limit the use of single-use plastic, Umove Adventure encourages each of us to prepare for ourselves a bottle of water with a 1L capacity for daily water refilling.

On the tour, tourists comply with the instructions and regulations on environmental protection at the destination.

6. Medical assistance

We only provide first aid during the tour and do not provide any oral medications so if you have health problems that require preventive medicine, please prepare for your own.

If you have cardiovascular disease or bone and joint diseases (knees, ankles, shoulder joints, etc.), you should consult your doctor before deciding to join the trip.

What is the best time to join this program?

Cuc Phuong National Park offers beautiful experiences throughout the year. From October to March, the cool autumn and winter weather makes it ideal for trekking and camping deep in the forest.

What age is this program suitable for?

Children aged 5 and above can join this tour if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Can I join the tour if I am traveling alone?

Yes, this is an open tour, so you can join by yourself. However, the tour requires a minimum of 5 participants to depart. If the minimum number isn’t met, Umove Adventure will notify you one week in advance so you can either reschedule or receive a refund of your deposit.

Can I join this program if I have no trekking experience?

Yes, this is a moderate difficulty outing (4/10), suitable for everyone, including children. The activities are light, with easy terrain, so no prior fitness preparation or trekking experience is required.

How much deposit do I need to make when booking? When is the remaining payment due?

Customers are required to deposit 50% of the total cost via bank transfer or card payment through Onepay. The remaining 50% must be paid no later than one day before the departure, also via bank transfer or credit card through Onepay. 

Umove Adventure will not confirm your booking until the deposit is received.

Can the tour accommodate my dietary needs if I’m vegetarian or have food restrictions

You must inform Umove Adventure of your dietary needs when booking, and we will check if the destination can meet your requirements. Generally, Umove Adventure offers vegetarian options, depending on the tour’s location.

What camping equipment does Umove Adventure provide for this tour?

Can I bring my pet (dog/cat) on the tour?

Umove Adventure does not specifically offer tours for travelers visiting with their pets. It depends on the approval of other tour participants. If you wish to bring a pet, Umove Adventure will ask the group’s consent. You will be fully responsible for maintaining hygiene and ensuring your pet’s safety.

Is there an extra fee if I want to have a private tent?

For open group tours (if you’re traveling alone), Umove Adventure typically arranges for guests of the same gender to share a tent. If you prefer a private tent, we can provide one at no extra charge, depending on availability at the time of departure. If additional tents are required, there may be a small fee (you will be informed at the time of booking).

What are the arrangements for toilets and showers during the trip?

We will camp at Bong, a large, flat grassy area with restrooms and showers, where you can take care of personal needs.

Is there phone reception at the campsite?

You may get some signal at the entrance of Cuc Phuong National Park, but as you move deeper into the forest, phone reception will no longer be available.

Can I postpone or cancel the tour before the departure date?

You may incur a fee depending on how far in advance you cancel or postpone your trip. If you wish to change your departure date or switch to a different tour, Umove Adventure will reschedule you and apply a fee (or not). Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for details.
