Itinerary
1st day: Ha Noi – Huong Ly Port – 90s Paradise Island

06:30 - Arriving at 65 Nguyen Thi Đinh. Boarding the bus to Yen Bai via the Hanoi – Lao Cai Expressway. We will stop for a 15-minute break at a rest stop along the expressway, then continue on to Yên Bái. 

Arriving at Huong Ly Port at 11:00. Inflating SUP boards and preparing equipment, then heading to a local restaurant for lunch before starting our SUP paddling adventure on the vast waters of Thac Ba Lake. We will paddle towards Paradise Island, which is approximately 2.5 hours away from Huong Ly Port. A motorboat will accompany the group for support. Upon arriving at Paradise Island, we will check in at the resort and enjoy swimming in the lake or pool. Having dinner and staying overnight at the resort.

* Standard accommodation is shared in a communal stilt house at Paradise Resort. If you prefer to upgrade to a private room, please let us know.

2nd day: 90s Paradise Island – Ngoi Tu – Ha Noi

07:30 - Having breakfast at the resort. This morning, we will continue paddling to explore the nooks and crannies of the expansive Thac Ba Lake, particularly around the Ngoi Tu area. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a homestay. After lunch, we will board the bus back to Hanoi. The tour ends upon arrival in Hanoi.

Difficulty Level (6/10): Most people can participate in the tour, children from 6 years old and above also can join with parents. It will be easier and more comfortable for you to experience outdoor activities if you have good preparation for physical training before the trip. The duration of each trip is generally 2 days. With those trekking tours at this level, it might take 2 – 3 hours/day to do the trek with the relatively easy terrain. At the same level, the kayaking and SUP tours, 2 – 3 hours/ days paddling with the large water surface, and plenty of times to take photos and rest as well.

Suggested physical training: Practice running or kayaking/SUP 1 - 2 weeks in advance. Run twice a week, each session 3 - 5km every night. Or paddling from 2- 3 times, each time is 5 km.

4. Trekking SUP route notes

● On the first day, we will start paddling from Huong Ly Port to Paradise Island, covering a distance of about 7-8 km. On the second day, we will paddle approximately 6-7 km. Depending on the time of year, we may paddle with the wind or slightly against it. The water surface is mostly calm, with no strong current.  

● Before we begin paddling, the guide will instruct us on paddling techniques and safety precautions as well as the route. You are required to wear a life jacket and a leash at all times. For those who are paddling on a SUP for the first time, it's advisable not to stand on the board right at the starting point. After paddling for about 1-2 km, if you feel comfortable and confident with the water, you can start standing up to paddle. 

● While paddling on the lake, you need to be cautious and avoid obstacles like branches, rocks, etc. Staying close to the shore and watching out for motorboats navigating on the lake.We will have a motorboat escorting us throughout the paddling trip. If you wish to use the paddle to navigate the boat, please inform the guide. If you know how to swim and have considerable paddling experience, you may remove your life jacket and secure it on the SUP, but you must not remove the leash.

5. Accommodation

● We will have dinner and sleep at a small resort on Paradise Island. It has a swimming pool, restaurant, café, and beautiful lake views. We will sleep in the resort’s stilt house, sharing a room with comfortable blankets, mattresses, and mosquito nets.

6. Food & drinking water

● Dinner on the mountain will be freshly cooked by the porter team. Breakfast will be fried rice, instant noodles, or crepes. Lunch is typically pre-prepared cold food.  

● Drinking water on the mountain will be sourced from streams and boiled for disinfection by the porter team. Participants should bring water bottles to refill for daily use.  

● At the overnight shed, hot tea and coffee will be served before and after each meal.

7. Protecting the environment together

● In order to limit the use of single-use plastic, Umove Adventure encourages each of us to prepare for ourselves a bottle of water with a 1L capacity for daily water refilling.

● On the tour, tourists comply with the instructions and regulations on environmental protection at the destination. 

8. Medical assistance

● If you have cardiovascular disease or bone and joint diseases (knees, ankles, shoulder joints, etc.), you should consult your doctor before deciding to join the trip.

1. When is the best time to join this program?

The best time to visit Thac Ba Lake is March of the following year. At this time, the climate is extremely pleasant and cool, suitable for outdoor activities.

 

2. What age is suitable for children to join this tour?

If children are paddling by themselves, they must be 14 years old or older. If children are sitting in a kayak or SUP with an adult, they can go from around 8 years old.

 

3. I've never paddled a SUP/Kayak before, can I still join this tour?

The tour has a difficulty level of 6/10, so even those who have never paddled a SUP before can still participate. Before entering the water, the guide will teach the group basic paddling skills and safety techniques. Guests will also have time to get familiar with the SUP before paddling.

4. Can I join the tour if I'm traveling alone?

This is a group tour, so you can join alone. However, the minimum number of participants for the tour to start is 5. If the minimum number isn't met, UA will notify you one week in advance so you can either reschedule or get a refund.

 

5. How much deposit do I need to make when booking? When is the remaining payment due?

When booking, customers need to deposit 50% of the total amount via bank transfer or card payment through Onepay. The remaining 50% should be paid no later than one day before the departure, also via bank transfer or credit card through Onepay.

UA will not confirm the booking until the deposit is received.

 

6. Can I postpone/cancel the tour before the departure date?

Depending on how far in advance you postpone or cancel the tour compared to the departure date, there may be a fee. If you want to reschedule the departure date or switch to a different tour, Umove Adventure will transfer your booking and may or may not charge a fee. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for more details.

 

7. If I'm vegetarian (or have specific dietary restrictions), can the tour accommodate that?

You need to inform Umove Adventure of your dietary requirements when booking, and we will check whether the destination can meet those needs and let you know. Generally, Umove Adventure offers vegetarian options depending on the tour's location.

 

8. What camping gear will Umove Adventure provide on this tour?

9. Can I bring my pet (dog/cat) along?

Umove Adventure does not offer specific tours for guests with pets, so bringing a pet depends on the agreement of other passengers on the tour. If you want to bring your pet, Umove Adventure will ask for the consent of the group, and you will be fully responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring your pet's safety.

 

10. If I get too tired while paddling SUP/kayak, can I stop?

If you're too tired to continue paddling, inform the guide or support boat immediately for assistance. Most Umove Adventure tours have a support motorboat. If you're exhausted, you can board the motorboat and follow the rest of the group for the remainder of the tour.

11. Can I join the tour if I can't swim?

Yes, you can participate even if you can't swim, as long as you strictly follow the guide's safety instructions. Anyone paddling SUP and wanting to swim must wear a life jacket and secure the leash.
