Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi – Cho Ra Town - Ba Be NP - Campsite

06:30 Departure from Hanoi to Bac Kan Province We set off early, heading north. En route, we'll make a comfortable stop for a break in Thai Nguyen.

12:00 Arrival at Cho Ra & Lunch Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Cho Ra. Afterward, a short transfer takes us to Bo Luom boat dock—your SUP adventure begins here!

Afternoon: SUP Downstream on the Nang River. Launch your stand-up paddleboard and glide downstream with the gentle current of the narrow Nang River. No heavy paddling required—the flow does the work while you soak in the breathtaking scenery: towering limestone cliffs, lush narrow valleys, and peaceful cornfields lining the banks.

The absolute highlight? Paddling straight through the enormous Puong Cave, where the entire river flows beneath dramatic stalactites and echoing chambers—an unforgettable thrill!

After emerging from the cave, we pause on a secluded river island for Chilling time: fresh seasonal fruits, cold drinks, and pure relaxation surrounded by nature.

We continue paddling to the confluence where the Nang River meets the vast Ba Be Lake. Here, we switch to a motorboat to cruise deeper into the lake. In summer, the boat stops for a refreshing swim in Ba Be's crystal-clear, year-round cool waters.

Late Afternoon: Arrival at Umove Adventure Campsite. Our riverside camping area awaits on the shore of Ba Be Lake, just a stone's throw from charming Pac Ngoi village. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink, check into your comfortable tent, and take time to freshen up and unwind.

18:30 Dinner & campfire savor a hearty dinner prepared at the campsite. Afterward, gather around the campfire for stories, laughter, and good company under a starry sky before a peaceful night's sleep to the sounds of the lake.

* Meals included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Campsite – An Mã Temple– Hanoi

07:30 Breakfast at the campsite. Start the day with a hearty breakfast.

Morning: After breakfast, we take a leisurely stroll through the Pac Ngoi village, home to friendly Tay ethnic communities. From there, embark on an easy 1-hour forest hike along a gentle, non-strenuous trail with minimal elevation gain.

Arrive at An Ma Island—the largest island on Ba Be Lake—and visit the sacred An Ma Temple, a peaceful spiritual site steeped in local history and natural beauty. After visiting An Ma Temple we get our SUP boards and paddle across the tranquil emerald waters to the opposite shore—a relaxing and scenic finale to your paddling adventure. Upon reaching the shore, freshen up, change into dry clothes, and enjoy a delicious lunch at a local lakeside restaurant.

Kayaking and SUP activities at this level involve 2-3 hours of paddling per day in larger water areas or with some current, with plenty of time for photography and rest.

4. Notes on the SUP & hiking

  • Day 1: Paddle boarding (approx. 8 km). We paddle downstream from Boc Luom wharf to the Nang River–Ba Be Lake junction. The current is fairly strong, making physical effort minimal, but beginners may feel uneasy at first. Always wear a life jacket and leash at the start. You may stand up after 1–2 km once comfortable.
  • Stay alert for swift currents, branches, or rocks. Experienced swimmers with strong paddling skills may remove their life jacket (secure it on the board), but the leash must remain attached at all times.
  • Day 2: Gentle 1-hour forest hike with easy terrain and minimal elevation. Wear appropriate sports or hiking shoes for comfort and safety.

5. Notes on the Caving

  • Trekking to the entrance: Approximately 5km one way, through dense jungle, trails, steep hills, streams, bamboo bridges, and rough terrain. Starts with a steep uphill; paths can be slippery in rain.
  • Inside the cave: Underground river cave. Involves swimming (or wading in hip-deep to deep water) through sections, scrambling over rocks, navigating narrow/slippery passages, sinkholes, and cold/dark conditions. Exploration typically takes 4–5 hours. Features stunning stalactites, bats, and formations, but highly demanding.
  • Fitness Required: Good physical condition essential. Not suitable for beginners, pregnant people, or those with heart issues or mobility limitations.

5. Food & drinks

  • Meals feature authentic local flavors: fresh fish, chicken, pork, seasonal vegetables, and fruits. Typical breakfast includes noodle soup (chicken or pork rib) or instant noodles with eggs.
  • Vegetarian or special dietary needs? Please inform us in advance so we can prepare alternatives. For requirements we cannot accommodate (medical, religious, etc.), we recommend bringing your own food.
  • Daily drinking water is provided. To reduce single-use plastic, please bring a reusable 1L bottle for refills.
  • Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited during SUP, trekking, or any active segment. Alcohol and soft drinks are not included with meals.

6. Environmental responsibility

  • Umove Adventure follows Leave No Trace principles and encourages all participants to do the same. Learn more here: Leave No Trace Guidelines.
  • Help minimize plastic waste by using reusable bottles and bags.
  • Please follow all local environmental regulations and guide instructions at the destinations.

7. Health & medical assistance

  • If you have cardiovascular conditions, joint issues (knees, ankles, shoulders, etc.), or any pre-existing health concerns, consult your doctor before booking.
  • Basic first aid is available on tour, but we do not provide oral medications. Please bring any personal or precautionary medicines you may need.
Q&A
What is the best time to go on this program?

Ba Be Lake is a year-round destination, with each season offering its own unique charm and experiences. The ideal period for this program is March to October, when the weather is warm and pleasant:

  • Perfect for cooling off with swims in the crystal-clear waters of Ba Be Lake.
  • Lush greenery and vibrant natural scenery at their peak.
  • In spring (March–May), the landscape bursts into color with red peach blossoms and white cotton flowers set against the brilliant blue sky—a truly picturesque backdrop for paddling and camping.

From November onward, temperatures cool down significantly (often 15–22°C), making it an excellent time for:

  • Comfortable SUP paddling and trekking without excessive heat.
  • Crisp, clear days ideal
What is the minimum age for children to join this tour?

This 2-day SUP adventure is suitable for children aged 12 and older, who must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult at all times.

  • Participants under 18 require parental consent and supervision.
  • Younger children (under 12) are not permitted due to safety considerations, including the downstream river current on the Nang River, paddling through Puong Cave, and the physical nature of the trekking and camping activities.
  • All participants (regardless of age) must be able to swim confidently and follow the guide's safety instructions.

If you're traveling with younger children or have specific questions about family suitability, please contact us—we're happy to discuss alternatives or private tour options!

Can I join this program if I have no paddle boarding experience?

Yes! This 2-day SUP adventure is designed to be beginner-friendly and suitable for those with little or no prior paddle boarding experience.

The main SUP segment on Day 1 is entirely downstream on the Nang River with a gentle-to-moderate current that does most of the work for you — minimal physical effort required. Our professional guides provide a full safety briefing and basic SUP instruction before you start paddling, including how to balance, paddle efficiently, and handle the board.

The calmer waters of Ba Be Lake on Day 2 are ideal for relaxed paddling and building confidence.

Can I join this tour if I’m going alone?

Yes, definitely! This join-in SUP adventure is perfectly suitable for solo travelers.

  • Many of our guests join individually and end up making new friends around the campfire, during paddling, or on the hike.
  • The group size is small (typically 6–15 participants), creating a friendly and social atmosphere.
  • You'll be paired with others for shared tents (same-gender unless otherwise requested) or can upgrade to a single tent for an additional fee (subject to availability—please inquire when booking).
  • Our professional guide and team ensure everyone feels included, safe, and supported throughout the trip—no prior companions needed.
How much do I need to deposit when registering? When is the remaining amount due?

Deposit requirement to secure your booking, a 50% deposit of the total tour price is required at the time of registration.

Payment Methods:

  • Bank transfer
  • Credit/debit card via OnePay (secure online payment gateway)

Final Payment: The remaining 50% balance must be paid no later than 1 day before the departure date, using the same payment methods (bank transfer or OnePay).

Important note: Umove Adventure will only confirm your booking once the deposit has been received. You will receive a confirmation email with full details shortly after payment.

We recommend completing payment early to guarantee your spot, especially during peak seasons!

Can I bring my pet (dog/cat) along?

Umove Adventure does not organize pet-friendly tours as standard, due to the nature of the activities (SUP paddling on rivers and lakes, camping, group trekking, and shared transportation).

However, in exceptional cases and only for small, well-behaved pets, we may consider your request subject to the following strict conditions:

  • Unanimous consent from all other participants in the group must be obtained in advance.
  • You (the owner) take full responsibility for your pet’s behavior, safety, cleanliness, and any waste disposal throughout the tour.
  • The pet must not interfere with activities, other guests, or wildlife (e.g., no barking/disturbance during camping or paddling).
  • Additional requirements may apply (vaccination records, leash, carrier, etc.).

To request permission, please contact us as early as possible when booking. We will check with the group and confirm feasibility.

For the comfort and safety of all guests, we generally recommend leaving pets at home or arranging separate pet care.

If I am vegetarian (or have a dietary restriction), can the tour accommodate this?

Please inform Umove Adventure of any vegetarian, vegan, or other dietary requirements/restrictions (e.g., allergies, halal, gluten-free) at the time of booking or as early as possible.

We will verify with our local partners and suppliers at the Ba Be tour destination to confirm whether your specific needs can be fully accommodated. You will be notified promptly regarding availability.

In most cases, vegetarian options are readily available throughout the tour (including homestay meals, picnics, and campsite dinners). However, due to the remote nature of Ba Be National Park and reliance on fresh local ingredients, some specialized diets may have limited variety.

To ensure the best possible experience, early notification allows us to make the necessary arrangements in advance.
