4. Notes on the trekking route

  • This trek offers diverse terrain without being overly technical or exposed compared with many of Vietnam’s ten highest mountains. Although Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam, the Tram Ton route is considered one of the more accessible high-mountain trekking routes, making the overall difficulty relatively moderate.
  • Umove Adventure recommends carrying a small backpack of approximately 10L, with no more than 2kg of essential items such as your wallet, phone and drinking water. Your personal belongings, including clothes for changing at the mountain shelter, as well as daily drinking water and food for meals on the mountain, will be carried by the porter team.

Q&A
When is the best time to join this tour?

The most favourable period is generally from October to April, when rainfall is usually lower and trail conditions are more suitable. October to December is often ideal for cloud hunting and sunrise views. Rhododendrons commonly bloom along the trail and near the summit from March to April.

Can I join without previous trekking experience?

Yes. The Tram Ton route is varied but not highly technical, so many first-time trekkers can participate. However, good general fitness and appropriate preparation are strongly recommended because the itinerary involves long trekking days, steep slopes and potentially slippery terrain.

Can I join as a solo traveller?

Yes. This is a join-in tour, so solo travellers are welcome. A minimum of six participants is required for departure. If the minimum group size is not reached, Umove Adventure will notify guests at least one week before departure so they may transfer to another date or receive a refund of their deposit.

What deposit is required?

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking and may be paid by bank transfer or card through OnePay. The remaining 50% must be paid no later than one day before departure. A booking is not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

Can I postpone or cancel the tour?

Yes. Applicable fees depend on how far in advance the change or cancellation is requested. A change of departure date or transfer to another tour may be subject to a fee. Umove Adventure’s current postponement and cancellation policy applies.

Can vegetarian or special dietary meals be arranged?

Guests should advise Umove Adventure of vegetarian, allergy-related or other dietary requirements before booking. The team will check what can be provided on this remote mountain itinerary and confirm the available arrangements.
