4. Notes on the SUP/kayak paddling and trekking routes

● On the day of SUP/kayak paddling, we will start from the boat dock and paddle towards Khâu Vai Canyon, covering a distance of approximately 2.5 km.

● Before starting, the guide will provide instructions on paddling techniques as well as safety guidelines and route information. You must wear a life jacket and a leash. For first-time SUP paddlers, it’s recommended not to stand on the SUP right from the start. After paddling for about 1-2 km, if you feel more comfortable and confident with the water, you can then begin to stand while paddling.

● While paddling on the lake, please be cautious of obstacles like tree branches or rocks. Stay close to the shore and watch out for motorboats on the lake.

● A motorboat will support us throughout the paddling time. In case you prefer to use the motorboat instead of paddling, please inform the guide.

● Note: If you know how to swim and have experience paddling, you may remove the life jacket and secure it on the SUP, but never remove the leash.

● On the third day, we will trek approximately 5-6 km along the Cliff of the Gods. This trekking route is quite easy and offers some of the most magnificent views in Vietnam. The path is not difficult, but you must wear sports shoes or sport sandals (flip-flops are not allowed).

5. Food & drinks

● The meals on the tour are quite diverse and feature many “local specialties.” If you have any dietary restrictions or follow a vegetarian diet, please inform the UA tour operator in advance so that suitable meals can be prepared for you. In cases where we cannot meet special dietary requests (for health, medical, religious reasons, etc.), we suggest that you bring your own food.

● Drinking water will be provided sufficiently on the vehicle and during the paddling session. Umove Adventure encourages customers to minimize the use of single-use plastic and nylon products, so we recommend that you bring a reusable water bottle to fill from the large water containers we provide.

● Alcoholic beverages are not allowed while paddling SUP/kayak or trekking. Alcoholic drinks and soft drinks are not included in the meals.

6. Protecting the environment together

● Umove Adventure supports and practices Leave No Trace principles in each program and outdoor activities itself. We also encourage our customers and partners to apply to Leave No Trace principles when traveling in the outdoor environment. See details about the Leave No Trace tại đây

● In order to limit the use of single-use plastic, Umove Adventure encourages each of us to prepare for ourselves a bottle of water with a 1L capacity for daily water refilling.

● On the tour, tourists comply with the instructions and regulations on environmental protection at the destination.

7. Medical assistance

● If you have cardiovascular disease or bone and joint diseases (knees, ankles, shoulder joints, etc.), you should consult your doctor before deciding to join the trip.

● The tour guide will carry a basic first aid kit. If you have any medical problems that require medication, you should bring your own medication.

Q&A
1. What is the best time to go on this program?

Ha Giang is beautiful in every season, but each season has its unique highlights. If you go during the Lunar New Year, you will see peach and plum blossoms like in other regions of the Northeast and Northwest. From October to December, the buckwheat flowers bloom, covering the fields in Meo Vac and Dong Van. March is the season for beautiful red silk cotton flowers. Additionally, there are white and yellow mustard flowers blooming in winter. The summer months from April to September are very suitable for SUP and kayak tours on the Nho Que River. Therefore, it’s hard to say which season is the best to visit Ha Giang.

2. What age is this program suitable for children?

UA recommends that children aged 10 and older can participate in this program with their parents or adults.

3. Can I join the tour if I am going alone?

This is a group tour, so you can join the tour by yourself. However, the minimum number of participants for the tour to proceed is 8 people. If the minimum number is not reached, UA will notify you at least one week in advance so that you can decide to change the departure date or receive a refund of your deposit.

4. How much deposit do I need to pay when registering? When will the remaining amount be paid?

When registering for the tour, customers will need to pay a deposit of 50% of the total amount via bank transfer or credit card through Onepay. The remaining 50% must be paid no later than one day before the departure date, also via bank transfer or credit card through Onepay.

UA will not confirm the booking until the tour deposit is received.

5. Can I join this program if I have no trekking experience?

This outing has a moderate difficulty level (5/10) and is suitable for most people, including those without much trekking experience. The terrain is easy to navigate, not steep, and the daily trekking distance is about 6 km. However, you should refer to the notes and guidelines for preparing for a trip of this difficulty level (5/10) here.

6. Can I postpone/cancel the tour before the departure date?

Depending on how far in advance you cancel or postpone compared to the departure date, you may incur a fee. If you wish to change your departure date or switch to another tour, Umove Adventure will adjust the date for you and may charge a fee (or not). For details, please refer to our cancellation policy.

7. If I am vegetarian (or have dietary restrictions), can the tour accommodate this?

You will need to inform Umove Adventure about your vegetarian or dietary requirements before booking the tour, and we will check if the destination can meet those needs and inform you accordingly. Typically, Umove Adventure will have vegetarian options available for customers depending on the location of the tour.

8. What camping equipment will Umove Adventure provide on this tour?

Please see the Equipment section in the tour details.

9. Can I bring my pet (dog/cat) along?

Umove Adventure does not organize tours specifically for guests bringing pets. Therefore, bringing pets will depend on the agreement of the other passengers on the tour. If you wish to bring a pet on the tour, Umove Adventure will ask the other participants if they agree, and you will be fully responsible for maintaining cleanliness and the safety of the pet.

10. What about restrooms and bathing during the trip?

At the campsite, there will be hot water for bathing and clean restrooms for customers' personal needs.

11. If I want to sleep in a private tent, will there be an extra fee?

Typically, for a group tour (if you are going alone), Umove Adventure will pair guests of the same gender to share tents. If you want to rent a private tent, depending on the timing of the tour and if we have private tents available, Umove Adventure is willing to arrange a private tent for you at no extra charge. However, if there are not enough tents and we need to rent additional tents, there will be an extra fee (which will be communicated to you at the time of booking).

12. If I am tired while kayaking and can’t paddle anymore, can I stop?

If you are tired and cannot continue paddling, you should quickly inform the guide or support boat for assistance. Most tours from Umove Adventure have a motorboat following along to provide support. If you are too tired to paddle, you can board the motorboat for the remainder of the program.

13. Can I participate if I don’t know how to swim?

You can still participate even if you don’t know how to swim, provided you strictly follow the safety instructions given by the guide. All SUP participants who wish to swim must wear life jackets and use leg leashes.

This tour, with a difficulty level of 6/10, requires you to have experience from other lower-level SUP tours or have completed basic SUP training courses to participate in the tour.
