Tour overview

Pu Ta Leng, also written Putaleng, rises to 3,049 metres above sea level and is Vietnam’s third-highest mountain. Located in the Hoang Lien Son range in Ta Leng Commune, Tam Duong District, Lai Chau Province, it is celebrated for brilliant red rhododendrons, often called the queen of Northwest Vietnam’s forest flowers. The demanding journey combines stream crossings, old-growth forest, moss-covered woodland, tangled bamboo and high mountain mist. In March and April, parts of the trail may be carpeted with rhododendron blossoms, creating one of northern Vietnam’s most memorable trekking landscapes.
